New Alfa Romeo 4C launch

Unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show, Alfa Romeo’s new concept coupé, the 4C, has caused quite a stir. Smooth curves, a wide body and a rear view that’s reminiscent of a beefed-up Aston Martin - this car is not one for wallflowers.

Set to go on sale this year, the new Alfa Romeo 4C is much more than just a sports car; it has been built to rival the Porsche 911, to lure those lovers of the sports car away from the notoriously high-brow brands with price tags to match. Boasting 0-60mph in around 4.5 seconds, acceleration is not something that this car lacks, and with engine noise as soothing as a purring cat, this car is nothing short of refined.

This impressive acceleration is partly down to the incredibly low overall weight of the car – the Italian car brand has worked hard to get this to less than 2,000lbs, and has achieved this enviable feat despite designing a car that looks weighty and strong. You’ll probably notice similarities between the new 4C and the Bugatti Veyron, and this is because the same company – Dallara – worked to design, develop and produce the carbon fibre components – Alfa are rolling with the big boys.

Boasting more than 200bhp, if you love speed and elegance in one impressive package, it’s probably time for you to find out more about the new Alfa Romeo 4C – it’s ahead of schedule and almost on the UK’s roads. Showcased in a deep red, when you’re browsing paint options, stick to classic sports car colours to really pick out the sweeping lines and attention to detail.
